Meta has initiated the testing phase of its latest artificial intelligence-powered chatbot, which is integrated across its platforms, including WhatsApp. This chatbot is Meta's counterpart to ChatGPT, providing a range of functionalities such as answering queries, generating text and images, language translation, and more.

The rollout of Meta AI has commenced for a limited number of users in India and other regions, with broader availability anticipated soon. Several users in India have shared their experiences on social media platforms, confirming the arrival of this feature.

To determine if the feature is accessible to you, updating the WhatsApp application on your smartphone is advisable. The new generative AI capabilities, driven by Llama, introduce an intuitive UI resembling that of Perplexity AI within the WhatsApp messaging platform.

Before utilizing Meta AI on WhatsApp, users are required to accept Meta's AI terms. Messages generated by Meta AI and other characters are the output of artificial intelligence algorithms utilizing Meta's services in response to the queries posed to the AI.

Meta has clarified that currently, Meta AI can only respond to queries specifically addressed to @Meta AI. Moreover, personal messages and calls continue to be protected by end-to-end encryption. According to information on WhatsApp's official website, users can engage with the Meta AI chatbot within group chats.

How to use the new ‘Meta AI’ chatbot in WhatsApp group chats
1. Open the desired group chat
2. Type ‘@Meta AI’ in the message field and Tap on it.
3. When prompted, read and accept the terms of service for using Meta AI.
4. Type your prompt for Meta AI.
5. Click on the send icon to submit your query.

Meta AI’s response will be visible to everyone in the group chat. Users can reply to Meta AI by placing their cursor over the AI’s message, clicking on the reply icon, typing the response, and clicking send. It is worth noting responses generated by AI may not always be entirely accurate.

In case you cannot see the Meta AI option, worry not. The feature is in its testing phase currently and will be available for everyone in the coming months.
